A restaurant manager who stored food where there was an “active mouse infestation” has been found guilty of five hygiene offences.

Mr Doron Zilkha, ex-manager of the Battersea Quarter in the Hitch Quay, was found to have a mouse infestation and was preparing food on counters “unfit for human consumption”.

Zilkha, of Blakemore Gardens in Barnes, also failed to get pest control in when the rodent infestation began.

Inspectors found mouse droppings, old food and grease had “built up” in the restaurant, which is now closed.

Zilkha, whose restaurant had a hygiene rating of zero and was closed in the summer of 2016 due to the rodent problem, pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Sentencing has been adjourned to March 3 at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court.
