Colin Kennedy, formerly the borough’s top police officer, has had his suspension from the force lifted after it threw out an investigation into his alleged inappropriate behaviour.
In April 2016 the Metropolitan Police opened a gross misconduct investigation following an allegation of “inappropriate behaviour” against chief superintendent Kennedy.
Allegations about Colin Kennedy, who has worked for the Met since 1986, were reported to the Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) on Wednesday, April 20 2016.
As part of the investigation he was suspended from duty. A temporary superintendent was also placed on restricted duties following allegations of failures in duty.
The investigation has now concluded that neither CS Kennedy nor the other officer has a case to answer with respect to the allegations.
The suspension and restrictions have been lifted and the temporary superintendent has been promoted to superintendent, the Met said.
Kingston's chief superintendent Glenn Tunstall was temporarily placed as acting as borough commander for both boroughs before Parm Sandhu was appointed Richmond's top officer in August.
