Prince George is to attend a private day school where best friends are banned to save children’s feelings from being hurt.

The little royal will attend Thomas’s Battersea in Wandsworth from September, where parents Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge Kate expect him to have a "happy and successful start to his education".

Ben Thomas, headmaster at Thomas's Battersea, said: "We are honoured and delighted that their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen Thomas's Battersea for Prince George.

"We greatly look forward to welcoming him and all of our new pupils to the school in September."

According to the school, which costs £6,000 per term, its most important rule is to "Be Kind".

The website says, "Whilst we are proud of our record of senior school entrance and scholarship successes, we place a greater emphasis on a set of core values, which include kindness, courtesy, confidence, humility and learning to be givers, not takers.

"We hope that our pupils will leave this school with a strong sense of social responsibility, set on a path to become net contributors to society and to flourish as conscientious and caring citizens of the world."

The choice may come as a surprise to some, as it was speculated Prince George would follow in his father’s footsteps and go to Wetherby School which is very close to Kensington Palace - Thomas’s is a 30-minute drive away.
