A 15-year-sentence has been handed down to a man caught in possession of a gun.

Juordon Johnson, 19, of Gypsey Hill, Lambeth, was found guilty of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and possessing ammunition with intent to endanger after a two-week trial at Woolwich Crown Court in January.

Trident officers found the illegal items after carrying out an armed stop on a car Johnson was a passenger in.

He had been previously arrested after a man was attacked and stabbed on St Kitts Terrace in Crystal Palace on April 1, 2016.

He was charged after he was identified as being involved in the stabbing and while he was on bail for this offence officers stopped the car.

Detective Constable Iain Logan, of the Met’s Trident and Area Crime Command, said: “Johnson is now facing a lengthy sentence behind bars after he admitted his involvement in a stabbing and possession of a firearm.

“We carry out regular, proactive operations targeting those with illegal weapons and we remain committed to removing as many guns from the streets of London as we can.”

Johnson was sentenced on Friday, March 24 at Croydon Crown Court to 12 years’ imprisonment for possessing a firearm, 10 years for possessing the ammunition and five years for possessing the prohibited weapon. All these sentences will run concurrently.
