A suspected thief is in custody after a police chase involving dogs and helicopters.
Surrey Police officers gave chase after two men got out of a grey Nissan Qashqai – which was believed to be stolen – in Bridge Street, Leatherhead shortly after 2pm yesterday (Tuesday, April 11).

One man was arrested close to the scene shortly afterwards, while the other was arrested in Raymead Close, Fetcham after police dog units and the NPAS helicopter had pursued him.
One of the men, a 21-year-old from Staines was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failure to stop in connection to a police pursuit, driving whilst unfit through drugs, driving whilst disqualified, burglary and possession of class A and class B drugs.
The other man who was arrested has been released with no further action being taken.
