Officers from Wandsworth Council’s Parks Police have received a bravery commendation after they were involved in the arrest of a man allegedly armed with an offensive weapon.

Constable Jason Crawford, assisted by Constables Bernard Shirley, Althea Mason-Josephs and Sunnee Arhagba were presented the Award for Exemplary Performance by the mayor of the Wandsworth, Councillor Richard Field.

Constable Jason Crawford said: “I’m very proud to receive their award. It’s nice to be recognised for your efforts.”

Inspector Stephen Biggs from the service said: "The professionalism of the officers is to be commended."

The Parks and Events police are responsible for the routine patrolling of the parks, commons and open spaces within Wandsworth. They also police events, enforce byelaws, dog control orders, and other park regulations.

The man who was arrested was also allegedly in possession of drugs.
