From today: Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after woman stabbed in Battersea

A witness told the Wandsworth Guardian they had seen an air ambulance lifting off from Larkhall Park and saw a pile of cut-up clothes on the ground near a shopping parade in Wandsworth Road.

The witness, who gave his name only as Jonathan, told the Wandsworth Guardian he saw an air ambulance take off from the park at about 1.05pm as he was walking to the shops.

He said: “The right of way and staff parking behind the Ladbrokes (on the corner of Thessaly road and Wandsworth Road) was taped off and there was a policewoman guarding it.

“Behind her there were about five detectives in stab vests.”

“I couldn’t see if there was any blood. I can only guess that the victim’s clothes had been cut off.”

Jonathan has lived in the area for about seven years. When asked if he personally felt unsafe, he added: “Not personally at risk, no. There are sporadic incidents from time to time, which are never good to hear about.”

Ricky Hall tweeted: “Another stabbing has just occurred in the Battersea area Thessaly Road SW8”.

No arrests have been made and the Met's enquiries continue, a spokesman for the forece confirmed.

The Wandsworth Guardian has contacted London Air Ambulance and the London Ambulance Service for further comment.
