Croydon Cat Killer strikes again? South Norwood Animal Rescue Group called after young cat’s severed paw found in Ewell garden

Animal welfare group South Norwood Animal Rescue Group (SNARL) were called to the grisly scene in the KT17 area of the borough yesterday morning (Wednesday, May 17) and believe it could be the work Croydon Cat Killer.

The cat’s fate is not yet known, but a spokesperson for the group told the Epsom Guardian: “We don’t believe the cat would have survived the injury.

“In nearly all cases, the killer makes sure his victims are dead before he cuts them up.”

SNARL believe one person - sometimes known as the Croydon Cat Killer, UK Cat Killer or the M25 Animal Killer - is behind the murder and mutilation of more than 200 animals in recent years.

After yesterday’s discovery, SNARL wrote on its Facebook page: “It's much harder to determine with such a small body part but given the edges of the wound we suspect this animal is also a victim.”

The most-recent mutilation comes a week after the discovery of a cat found killed in an Epsom garden.

SNARL believe Molly’s injuries were consistent with those seen on other victims of the so-called Croydon Cat Killer.

Tony Jenkins and Boudica Rising formed the group – which specialises in the rescue and rehabilitation of poorly treated, abused and ill cats and other animals – in 2014.

The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation, Operation Tahake, into the slayings, and PETA and Outpaced have offered a £10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer.
