An event to combat youth violence and murder is taking place in Wandsworth this Saturday.
Neighbours Not Hoods is a free family community empowered event looking at ways to “elevate our youth” and to address the increase in youth violence and murders in London.
Phil Dorman, a volunteer youth worker and community artist, said: “The event is so important because it demonstrates a positive community wanting to be proactive in making a difference to the lives of young people on our streets.”
There will be talks on child sexual exploitation, shared responsibility, gangs, family support, youth engagement, bullying, social media and having a voice in the local community.
Along with talks, visitors can enjoy singing, dancing, spoken words, raps and more.
To complement the aim of the event, anyone who comes along can get advice on youth employment, attend a CV clinic, and be introduced to the benefits of boxing, artivism and family footie.
The event, located at Providence House Youth Club, Falcon Road, Battersea, is taking place on Saturday, May 27, from 12pm to 5pm.
Although it is free, tickets must be got through Eventbrite.
