Thick smoke blanketed West Street in Erith as firefighters tackled a blaze yesterday evening.
Pictures shared on social media show flames jumping up from woodland, smoke billowing out across the sky, and firefighters arriving to extinguish the fire.
The fire damaged dried woodland and a derelict building, according to Bexley Councillor Joe Ferreira, who attended the scene.
