Wandsworth Police is seeking help from the public to find the victim of a theft in Earlsfield.

At around 3.45pm on Thursday, June 15, a man parked outside Sainsburys on Magdalen Road heard a woman scream.

He head her shout: “Catch that guy, he’s taken my bag.”

A witness ran after the man, past Earlsfield Train Station onto Garratt Lane, where he detained him outside Café Aramanth.

Police were flagged down outside the library, the suspect was arrested and the bag was returned to the victim.

However, she left without giving the police any of her details.

A spokesperson for Wandsworth Police said: “We really need to speak to this woman to establish what happened.

“We need her account in order to charge the suspect for this offence, as the witness did not see the theft take place.

“There is no CCTV outside the library, and the cameras at Sainsbury’s do not stretch far enough to cover the incident. So we need your help.”

The victim is described as a woman aged about 50, with a “mixed race complexion” around 5ft, with medium length black hair and was wearing a flowery summer dress.

If you know this woman or witnessed this incident, we would like to hear from you. Please call 101 or the Wandsworth Case Progression Unit on 0203 276 2575, and quote reference number 0312660/17.
