Men possibly wielding an axe are on the loose in Streatham.
Police were called at 2.35pm today to New Park Road in Clapham to a reports of man in a car with an axe.
Officers found the car and followed it to Valley Road, where it stopped and two people got out and made off on foot.
A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “One of the suspects ran into Francis Barber Close. He was not traced.”
A crossbow and arrow were found discarded in a nearby garden, but the axe was not.
Valley Road was cordoned off until 4.50pm while a search took place.
No arrests have been made.
Photographs taken at the scene show police, forensics and a helicopter overhead.
This comes just one day after a teenager was left fighting for his life after being stabbed near Streatham railway station.

Ten people have been arrested in connection with the attack.
Police were called to the incident at around 5.45pm yesterday (June 3).
A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “It was reported that a number of males were throwing bottles.”
Detectives found the victim suffering “critical” stab wounds in Oakdale Road. He was taken to a south London hospital and is now in a stable condition.
Residents claimed online it was the second stabbing incident in a week.
