A Clapham man has been jailed for nine months for making hundreds of thousands of indecent images of children.

Robert Lawrence, 61, of Cato Road, pleaded guilty on May 24 to making 1,337 moving and still images of the most severe kind, category A, and 775 of category B.

He also pleaded guilty to a third charge of making 435,964 moving and still images of category C.

Lawrence was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court yesterday (August 1).

Along with jail time, he was made to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years and has a barring order from working with children and vulnerable adults.

An NSPCC spokesperson said: “Lawrence’s crimes have helped fuel the vile online trade in indecent images of children.

“Every single one of these images is a crime scene and real children are abused so they can be created.

“Viewing and sharing this horrendous material creates a market for it and it is right that people who do so, like Lawrence, face the courts for their actions.

“Tech companies, government, law enforcement and charities like ours are working together to tackle this growing issue, but more needs to be done to rid the online world of this shocking material.”
