A 41-year-old man questioned under caution after a jogger pushed a woman into the path of an oncoming bus has been released without charge.

On August 8, a video of a male jogger appearing to push a woman into the path of an oncoming bus went viral after a police appeal, sparking a national manhunt for the culprit.

The bus swerved to narrowly miss the 33-year-old victim, who only suffered minor injuries but was put in “extreme danger”, police stated.

The bus stopped and some passengers got off and rushed to the victim's aid.

About 15 minutes later the jogger came back the other way across the bridge.

The victim tried to speak to him but he did not acknowledge her and carried on jogging.

The man was arrested on the afternoon of Saturday, August 12, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and released the same day.

Another 41-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident on August 10 but was eliminated from the investigation two days later after being found to have been out of the country when it happened.

The incident happened at 7.41am on May 5, but a police manhunt went underway when the footage was released on August 8.

On Wednesday, August 9, the Met said it had received a “huge response” to its appeal for information.

Officers continue to appeal for any witnesses to the incident.
