Students from eight Wandsworth schools and a range of employers were honoured at an annual work experience awards ceremony last month.

Pupils from Burntwood Academy, Chestnut Grove Academy, Ernest Bevin College, Graveney Academy, Nightingale School, St Cecilia’s Church of England School, St Francis Xavier Sixth Form College were all in attendance at the event on October 17.

Business, and Education Succeeding Together (BEST) is said to work with around 700 employers with an aim to provide young people with access to 1,200 work experience placements.

The awards aim to celebrate a variety of students and employers.

Ernest Bevin College’s boys worked with former MasterChef finalist Daksha Mistry and London Cocktail Club owner JJ Goodman to provide food and mocktails, while Graveney School’s jazz band collaborated with rock band Attic to perform live entertainment.

Tideway Central and Randall Close Day Centre were given special recognition at the ceremony alongside a number of employers who were presented with awards.

Ricardo Ferraras, project director at Tideway Central, spoke about Tideway’s work on developments in Nine Elms and Ms Mistry talked about her careers in the hospitality industry and her work with Wandsworth schools through the Pan Out project.
