A Tooting man who allegedly knocked over and killed a barrister while speeding in Balham will stand trial next year.
David Batcup, 64, had just left a charity event and was crossing the road in Bedford Hill when he was allegedly knocked down by Michael Sunnooman, 52, of Deal Road, who was driving a Porsche.
Mr Batcup was pronounced dead after the collision at approximately 10.15pm on September 13 last year.
An Old Bailey hearing before Judge Richard Marks QC heard the defendant plead not guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.
Mr Sunnooman was bailed until the beginning of his trial on April 9, which will last up to five days.
Members of Mr Batcup’s family were present in court for the hearing.
