Two men who stole more than £32,000 worth of goods from an address in Clapham have been jailed.

Ricky Hill, of Ingestre Road, and Sonny Ellis, of Countess Road, both admitted to stealing jewellery, handbags and electrical items at Blackfriars Crown Court this week.

Police first arrested Hill, 31, for vehicle theft offences and seized a mobile phone, but also found photographs of expensive handbags on the phone which were linked to a burglary in The Chase, Clapham.

Officers discovered the last three letters, ‘ity’, of a tattoo on the arm of the photographer, which then led them to find that his brother-in-law Ellis had sent the photos and had a similar tattoo on his left forearm.

The 26-year-old was arrested on November 14 at his home and his address was searched and, while no further property was seized, his bedroom matched the one in the photo.

His inner left forearm also ready, ‘For all eternity’.

Some £5,000 of the stolen goods were eventually recovered.

Hill was sentenced to three years and three months in prison, while Ellis was given 18 months on December 12.

Hill pleaded guilty to two vehicle offences – theft of a motor vehicle from a residential address in connection with the theft of a Toyota Urban crusier and £150 cash from within a Mini in Camden.

He also admitted to theft of a motor vehicle from outside Hampstead Heath station in relation to a £64,000 BMW and £5,000 of property inside it.

Both pleaded guilty on December 7.

DC Sam Edwards said: “This was an appalling string of offending which these two men carried out between them, resulting in more than £100,000 worth of stolen proceeds.

“These defendants thought nothing of travelling across London to commit offences.

“The BMW was recovered but in a very damaged state. The Toyota and £27,000 worth of property from the burglary, which the two defendants kept, remains outstanding.”
