A Wandsworth police officer who was convicted of making indecent images of children has been sacked by the force.

The Metropolitan Police’s Assistant Commissioner Helen Ball has fired Police Constable Stephen Taylor after he failed to attend a special case hearing yesterday (February 26).

The inquiry was set for him to answer allegations where his conduct ‘amounted to the breach of standards of professional behaviour’.

He recently admitted to six counts of making indecent photos, or pseudo-photographs, of children, as well as three counts of possessing ‘extreme images’ portraying an act of intercourse or oral sex with a live or dead animal.

He pleaded guilty to the offences at Basildon Crown Court on February 15 and has now been placed on the sex offenders’ register, with a sentencing date set for March 15.

On October 15 last year, Essex Police arrested him on suspicion of making, uploading and distributing indecent images of children before he accepted full responsibility in an interview the following month and was charged on December 22 with the nine charges brought against him.
