NHS workers in England are set to receive a 6.5 per cent pay rise over the next three years.
Union leaders representing hospital workers from all departments will meet with employers today (Wednesday) to confirm the increase.
The lowest paid amongst NHS workers are set to benefit the most, receiving the greatest salary increases.
This deal comes after a seven year pay cap on salaries of NHS workers of 1 per cent, which has caused controversy in the past.
It is expected workers will start to receive higher pay from July, but this will be backdated to April.
The Government has committed an extra £4 billion to the NHS to fund these increases over the next three years.
Increases of a similar amount are expected to be replicated across Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, but this has not been confirmed yet.
