Wandsworthians RFC proved victorious over Mitcham RFC, with the scoreline finishing 20-18.

They travelled across town to play their rivals Mitcham at Poulter Park, Carshalton on Saturday, April 14, kicking off at 3.00pm.

After losing 60-10 to Mitcham at the start of the season, Wandsworthians knew there was a massive challenge ahead of them. Wandsworthians, led by guest captain Rob Tindall, opened the score line with some moves through the hands of Dan Foot, Rob Tindall and Joey Alloway, which left space for Ash Ali to smash the line to win the first point of the day.

Mitcham responded well, but Wandsworthians pack leader Heath Burton led an onslaught of crash ball attacks and broke through the opponents defence.

Wandsworthians, who are based in Raynes Park, had a strong lead at half time. Soon after the second half started, Ash Ali scored his second try and a further penalty kick from Joey Alloway took Wandsworthians to a score of 20.

Mitcham put everything on the line as the match drew to a close but Wandsworthians were able to hold their defence and kept the home team out. The match ended 20-18 to Wandsworthians.
