A primary school in Battersea is set to join a large academy trust.

Governors at High View Primary School, Plough Terrace, have announced that the school will join the Ark network in September 2018.

The decision came just before Easter after a consultation with parents, staff and the local community.

In joining Ark, High View Primary School will become part of one of the most successful and respected multi academy trusts in the UK, with 11 of Ark’s schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.

Thea Sherer, chair of the governing body said: “I am very pleased that the Governing Body made the unanimous decision for High View to convert to become an academy and join the Ark network of schools in September.

“This is a very exciting next step for High View. The leadership of Ark, just like all the staff and governors at High View, are ambitious and want to see every child meet their potential. I would like to thank all of the staff, parents, and members of the local community who contributed to our consultation.”

The school will remain a non-selective, non-denominational, mixed primary school serving its local community.

Current pupils and staff will automatically transfer to the new school on Saturday, September 1, 2018.

The school’s existing wrap-around popular care services, providing a breakfast club and after-school activities, will continue to operate as they do now.
