Katey’s Nursery and Pre School, Medfield Street, has received Outstanding in all areas in its first ever Ofsted inspection.

The nursery, for children up to five- years -old, opened in June 2016 and is part of family group of nurseries with branches in Kingston and Ham.

Katey Barrington, director of Katey’s Nursery and Pre School, said: “I am absolutely thrilled that all three Katey’s Nursery & Preschool branches have been awarded Ofsted Outstanding status and so glad that the hard work and dedication of all my teams has been recognised. I am delighted that the local children can benefit from such an amazing education in their formative years and we are helping to get the next generation ready to be lifelong learners.”

The nursery was rated outstanding in their recent inspection for the effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare, and outcomes for children.

The Ofsted inspection report findings include children behaving exceptionally well, staff have very good relationships with parents, and staff devise very precise plans to meet the needs of their key children exceptionally well.

The report said that to further improve the quality of early year’s provision, the nursery should enhance the already excellent outdoor provision to support children’s learning in all areas even further.

Katey Barrington went on to say: “We are an inclusive nursery, supporting children and parents from all backgrounds, and an avid supporter of the Government’s ‘Early Years funding’, we give children from every background the opportunity to attend an Ofsted ‘outstanding’ nursery.

“I feel extremely proud and privileged to lead Katey’s Nursery & Pre-school. The teamwork and dedication of the staff, no matter what their role, in making sure the children are thriving educationally, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually is second to none."
