A primary school headteacher has raised more than £3,000 for his school.

Joe Croft, headteacher at Ravenstone Primary School, Balham raised the money to fund artwork and displays for the school.

He raised the money by running the London Marathon on Sunday, April 22, finishing in 208th place with an impressive time of two hours, 42 minutes and 30 seconds.

Joe Croft said: ''It was a tough run because of the extremely high temperature but spotting pupils cheering me on along the route kept me going. Knowing that I was raising money to improve the look of the school by buying artwork that was inspired by the children was also a great incentive."

Joe, an experienced runner, leads an early morning running club for the children every Thursday before school and often accompanies a group of children to the local Parkrun on Tooting Common on Saturday mornings.
