The ninth annual Wandsworth Heritage festival is coming to the borough with a celebration of open spaces later this month.
Running from May 26 to June 10, it will also feature talks, walks, workshops, and exhibitions.
Some highlights include a talk about Tooting jazz pioneer Sadie Crawford and the MI5’s wartime London Reception Centre in Wandsworth Common.
Social enterprise GLL, which runs library and heritage services on behalf of Wandsworth Council, is organising the festival.
Wandsworth Heritage Festival is helped by groups and societies within the borough with the event providing an opportunity to present people’s work and recruit new members.
More highlights include:
- A scything taster session
- Art and photography workshops
- A talk workshop on textile printing in the Wandle Valley
- What is was like growing up in wartime Battersea
- The story of Tooting Bec Lido
