A centre in Clapham, which helps homeless and vulnerable people, is receiving weekly food donations from Tesco.

Ace of Clubs provides food, support and shelter for those who need it in Wandsworth, and has been receiving support through the supermarket’s Community Food Connection.

The shelter on St Alphonsus Road uses the food to cook for up to one hundred people a day in the form of hot meals, sandwiches and food parcels.

The donations also enable Ace of Clubs to assign extra funds to the counselling, support and training it provides.

David Logan, Director of Ace of Clubs, said: “We rely solely on fundraising, donations, local and corporate support to keep going. Tesco is one of the companies that supports us by donating food via FareShare Go.

“Most visitors first come to Ace of Clubs when they’re hungry and looking for a meal. Many are given shelter, food, warmth, clothing, laundry and showers. I’m delighted that homeless people have found homes thanks to direct support from the centre.

“We don’t just give people food. We give people the chance to transform their lives.”

Community Food Connection is an initiative that provides local charities with food to distribute to those most in need, in association with FareShare Go.
