A female detective has been critically injured after being hit by a getaway car carrying a man she was trying to arrest near Heathrow this morning.
West Midlands Police Detective Constable Catherine Corbett was trying to arrest a man in Bath Road between Heathrow and Hounslow when she was hit by the blue Peugeot about 8.10am.
Police said the 39-year-old officer from the Midlands economic crime unit was with two male colleagues taking part in a fraud investigation.
The man escaped in a blue Peugeot 207, which then collided with another vehicle before driving off.
The vehicle was later found abandoned nearby in Harlington Road.
The plainclothes officer was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service with serious head injuries. Her two colleagues suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
D Con Corbett has more than 18 years' police experience.
Police have launched an attempted murder investigation and are continuing to search the area.
Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 020 8358 0400 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
A 41-year-old man has been arrested in west Midlands tonight on suspicion of the attempted murder of D Con Corbett and remains in police custody.
A woman in her 30s was arrested earlier today after attending a London police station. She also remains in custody.
