A yellow weather warning for wind has been issued for south London on Saturday and Sunday.

The yellow weather warning covering south of London is in place from tomorrow at 11am (December 30) until Sunday (December 31) at 3pm.

Tomorrow a spell of strong winds will move across east England and Wales, working its way to London.

There is also the potential for heavy rain and wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour widely.

On Saturday, the weather is predicted to begin with a chilly start to the morning with the potential for some intermittent rain.

Winds are predicted to strengthen throughout the day and will become windy in many areas by the evening.

On Sunday, the weather is predicted to begin cloudy with spells of rain which could be blustery.

Some bus and train services are likely to be affected, with journeys potentially taking longer.

Some places could experience short term loss of power during the bad weather.

People are being advised to check road conditions and bus or train times before travelling and to plan ahead.

The Met Office has also advised that people prepare for potential power cuts by preparing torches, batteries and charging power packs for mobile phones.
