A war hero washed cars at Volkswagen in York Road, Battersea on Saturday to raise money for charity.
Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry, who was awarded the Victoria Cross for twice saving the lives of soldiers under enemy attack in Iraq, washed dozens of cars with the help of his Army colleagues.
He took time out from the work to sell and sign copies of his autobiography, Barefoot Soldier, with 25 per cent of the takings going to charity.
Money raised will go to the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital and Combat Stress, a leading charity specialising in the care of British veterans.
