A violent sex attacker has been jailed for a string of assaults on lone women.

Ander Ely Becerra-Rivera attacked his victims in Merton and Wandsworth from November 2007 to June 2008.

A police spokesman said the 22-year-old from Home Park Road, Wimbledon, would grab at the crotches of his victims as they got off buses or trains.

Last week he was told he would serve three and a half years in prison then be deported to his home country of Peru during a sentencing at Kingston Crown Court.

The court heard Becerra-Rivera would prey on lone women, striking in Merton on November 4, 2007 and June 26, 2008.

DNA evidence gathered after his arrest for these crimes also linked him to an attack on a 29-year-old woman in Kelmscott Road, Battersea on June 25, 2008.

He initially denied the charges, but eventually admitted carrying out all three attacks.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cranwell of the Wandsworth Sapphire team, which investigates sex attacks, said: “This case was a good piece of investigation that linked these incidents and brought strong evidence to court against this predatory male.

“He caused a great deal of distress to his victims and I hope that with this sentence they can move on with their lives.

"We are pleased that this man has been taken out of our community and will be deported at the end of his sentence.”
