St George's Healthcare NHS Trust has joined the 10:10 campaign and pledged to cut carbon emissions by 10 per cent by the end of 2010.
Chief executive of the trust, David Astley, said: “This campaign represents a very important part of the trust's dedication to achieving sustainability.”
Mr Astley said the trust had reduced carbon emissions by about 20 per cent over the last five years but in order to achieve the 10:10 target it would need to cut a further 5,000 tonnes.
10:10 was formally launched on 1st September 2009.
