The aunt of a severly-ill toddler will join celebrities and others for a charity run in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in Battersea Park on Sunday.

Sally Pleasance, and her “army” of 57 runners will join West End star Jodie Prenger, GMTV’s Andrew Castle, Actress Kacey Ainsworth and Blue Peter presenter Andy Akinwolere for the 5km, Race for the Kids.

When Amylia Boylen developed a serious cold a year ago her parents, fearing it was bronchitis, her took to their GP, who then referred her to hospital.

The same day Amylia, now three, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) she was rushed straight to GOSH and immediately put on chemotherapy.

She was left paralysed on one side of her body, lost part of her sight and speech and experienced renal failure when her condition deteriorated, but after spending months at GOSH was allowed home.

But following another cold this January results showed that AML had returned and Amylia was re-admitted to GOSH three weeks ago was given a cord blood transplant.

Next week, Amylia’s parents will find out if the transplant was a success.

Her aunt has enlisted a team of 57 people, known as Amylia’s Army, who have so far raised more than £6,000.

Sally said: “I’m hoping my sister and brother-in-law (Amylia’s parents ) are able to attend the event to see how supportive anyone has been. I’m really looking forward to the day. It’s something nice that everyone can be involved in, including children.”

The race, which will help raise funds to redevelop GOSH, begins at 10am. Participants receive a goodie bag and refreshments and there will also be roving entertainers, prize giving, face painting, and activities on the day.
