South Thames College has aced its latest Ofsted report, with special commendations for its family learning courses.

The college, which has campuses in Tooting, Wandsworth, Roehampton and Morden, received official confirmation that it received an overall score of “good”.

Inspectors were especially impressed by its family learning courses, which were rated “outstanding”.

The college said the results reflected the “truly interesting and unique” range of adult courses on offer at the college.

Courses are tailored to all tastes and range from languages to crafts, computing, dance, food and managing stress.

For the first time this year, a wide range of short summer courses will be on offer from July at the Wandsworth, Tooting and Roehampton centres.

The college, for over-16s, aims to improve adult skills to improve employment prospects as well as provide leisure facilities.

Principal Sue Rimmer said: “It is part of our vision to make our industry standard facilities accessible to the whole community and we want local people to know how much is on offer here. We are thrilled with this Ofsted seal of approval and will continue to deliver the best possible service and provision to our local community”

South Thames College, which recently underwent a £100 million refurbishment on its Wandsworth campus, recently merged with Merton College.

The merger aimed to give students at both colleges a wider range of choice as well as more resources for different types of activities.
