A Wandsworth policeman known as the Mad Cop, has returned home after completing a 900-mile run across Europe for charity.
Andy Seery, who only last year had spinal surgery, set off on April 1 from Trafalgar Square and finished in Poland on May 1.
Andy said: “The trip was totally life changing and I experienced such emotions I didn't know I could ever feel, I experienced hunger and thirst, total desperation some days and such humbling experiences by being looked after by such poor people.”
Andy was running to raise money for Help for Heroes.
Despite suffering from a stress fracture, tendinitis and infected blisters during the run, he still managed to complete it in the scheduled time.
Andy added: “By the end of the journey I was quite poorly but did not want to stop.”
While on the run Andy was supported by members of the Dutch and German police and fire services.
On the last leg of the German section, President Fuering, German minister for policing and law, gave his backing and provided a police escort for Andy until he reached the Polish boarder.
Since returning back in the UK, Andy has entered into formal talks with the Army Benevolent Fund and the next event is already in the planning stages.
Andy plans to travel across Europe again, but this time rowing in a boat with wheels.
