Clapham's Venn Street Market bringing culinery craftship to Field Day

A street market based in Clapham will move its operation east this weekend to wow punters at the Field Day festival with its culinary treats.

Venn Street Market will be bringing its variety of traders to the one-day music festival, in Victoria Park, east London, tomorrow (July 31).

Hog roasts, Argentine cuisine, cakes, jerk chicken and lamb curry are just a few of the delicacies on offer from the traders at Clapham’s Venn Street Market, which is held on the last weekend of every month.

Field Day’s unusual marrying of a village green atmosphere and cutting edge indie and electronic music is a combo that has proved popular since the festival first launched in 2007.

Now in its third year, Field Day’s character of “village-green-meets-music-festival” attracts foodies and indie kids in their droves – and still manages to hold on to its independent roots.

This year’s bill includes an eclectic mix of cutting edge music from emerging talent, as well as sets by more well-known acts such as Caribou, Lightspeed Champion, Chilly Gonzales and The Fall, with the headline slot going to French electro-pop band Phoenix.

DJ sets include Simian Mobile Disco, Andy Weatherall, Gilles Petersen and Rory Phillips.

Tickets are still available for Field Day, which takes place tomorrow (July 31) in Victoria Park, from 11.30am and 10.30pm, priced at £33.33 from 0844 477 1000.
