A man was clubbed over the head with a plank of wood in Battersea during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police were called to Lavender Hill at 4.30am after a group of men attacked him, causing serious head wounds.

Four men were arrested and the road was closed for several hours while forensic teams combed the scene.

The victim is said to be in a serious but non-threatening condition.
