Most eight-year-olds are spending the last few weeks of their summer holidays lying in bed or playing football in the park.
But after seeing the shocking scenes around Clapham Junction on August 8, kind-hearted schoolboy Bertie Chauveau, 8, of Jessica Road, Wandsworth, decided to hold a cake/sweet/mini toy sale outside his house to raise money for the businesses damaged and livelihoods ruined by the rioting.
Despite the rainy weather, the sale went ahead on the morning of Wednesday August 24, and was attended by many nearby residents and friends - raising £100 in two-and-a-half hours.
Bertie said: "I spent much of the last two weeks thinking of ways to raise money and one of the shops to get some is definitely going to be The Party Superstore."
Jo Chauveau, Bertie's mum, said: "Everyone has been so kind and generous and we so wanted it to be a success for him so that his sense of community and friendship stays firm."
