Youth from the London Mosque attended a Sharia law and freedom debate between the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association and a university society. Speakers from the University College London’s Atheist, Secularist and Humanist Society argued in favour of the motion “Sharia Law Negates Human Rights”, which representatives of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association opposed.

Rabeel Saboor a local Southfield’s resident who attended said: ''This was a unique opportunity to remove any misconceptions about the Islamic Law. Extremism has unfortunately shaped much of the public perception about Islam. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Student’s Association presented the true teachings of Islam based on peace, justice and equality to the whole of mankind. The debate was truly fascinating. They myths surrounding Sharia law were removed showing that there was no conflict between Islam and Human Rights which go hand in hand.''

The debate was held on Thursday 8 December in front of a packed crowd of people from all walks of life.
