Lost Theatre in Battersea remixes Romeo and Juliet

Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is getting a modern remake by G Up Drama with their adaptation taking place on the streets of London.
Lorna Gayle, the founder of the drama group, re-wrote the play for a contemporary audience but kept the same characters.
Using modern language and a hip-hop musical score, the love story has taken on a more reflective mode for the youngsters that perform in and will watch the production.
Seeking to make it more appealing to a wider audience, Gayle re-wrote the play, removing the Elizabethan diction and infusing it with dialogue normally heard on the streets.
It is described as a "an Urban Tale of Love, Jealousy & Revenge. Two different backgrounds, two different worlds. What happens when they merge together?"
