Local families have clubbed together to rescue a café after it shut last year.

When Barmouth Kitchen, in Barmouth Road, Wandsworth, closed down 10 families each put in some money so they could keep it going as a community cafe.

Directors Andrew Lawford, Hannah Smashall and Claire Groves manage the café whilst two baristas are employed to make coffee.

There are four other families who live nearby and volunteer to help keep the café open seven days a week.

The café sells Union Hand-Roasted Coffee, as well as food from local suppliers including cakes, gingerbread and soups.

Visitors can also enjoy the free story-time sessions for toddlers at 10.30am every weekday run by mums and neighbours.

Mr Lawford said: "It is going well and we are able to open seven days a week.

"Families in the surrounding area have all got together to keep it going for the local community."
