Tooting Common now boasts an exciting new children’s play area after a £215,000 revamp.

Children can now enjoy exploring and playing on a large range of outdoor play equipment, such as large timber climbing pieces, a hammock, swings and a giant sandpit at the Tooting Triangle, off Cavendish Road. The playground is constructed almost entirely from natural materials to blend into its outdoor setting.

The style of refurbishment was decided following consultation with parents, children and residents in the area about what they would like to see at the playground.

The Mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Jane Cooper, formally opened the play area earlier this month. The council’s cabinet member for childrens’ services, Councillor Kathy Tracey, said: "This is a tremendous natural-look playground for children in the area. It has a great range of new equipment and is sure to be a popular leisure spot for local families."
