TV presenter Brian Dowling has told how he was left feeling “physically sick” after a pair of thugs robbed him at knifepoint near his Clapham home.

The 33-year-old former Big Brother winner was cornered by two hooded knifemen as he walked home on Wednesday evening (March 14).

They grabbed him and dragged him into an alleyway where they held a knife to his throat and mugged him, taking his wallet and mobile phone.

Speaking to the Sun newspaper, the Irishman said he was ‘too scared’ to scream for help and felt certain his abductors would physically hurt him.

He said: "I was terrified. I live in a lovely area, it was only nine at night and was only 30 seconds from my apartment. You don't expect it at that time of night, or on a quiet residential street.

“All I could think was, ‘Are they going to stab me?’”

He told the paper he felt traumatised when he finally staggered back to his flat.

“I felt physically sick when I got home,” he said.

Lambeth police are investigating the incident.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “At around 9pm on Wednesday we were called to reports of a man in his 30s being robbed.

“No arrests have been made at present.”
