Woman sets record at football club's charity run
A woman has beaten hundreds of runners to set a new 10-lap record at Emirates stadium.
Ruby Dixon, 47, from Godley Road in Wandsworth was one of 750 people from more than 20 countries to take part in Arsenal football club’s ‘Be a Gunner, Be a Runner’ event in support of Save the Children on March 31.
Ms Dixon completed the 10-lap, 6.4km course in a time of 33 minutes and 43 seconds – the best record for any women taking part in the event.
She said: “This is the fourth time that I’ve taken part in the event but probably the coldest one yet.
“I love the event and running around this fantastic stadium with all my fellow Gooners.
“It’s a great way for everyone to show their support for the club’s charity partner.”
To date, the event has raised more than £45,000 for Save the Children.
Save the Children support a range of education projects in the UK and overseas helping the poorest children to get a better start in life and giving them the chance to fulfill their potential.
