Richmond Park goers have been getting spooked by the sight of police and a forensics team.

But eagle-eyed sleuths who followed the clues will know the grim discovery is just a scene for BBC's crime thriller Silent Witness.

Kingston councillor Andrea Craig was one park visitor taken in by the show's realism.

She tweeted this lunchtime: "Just driven through Richmond Park and seen police cars and what looks like pathologists am seriously hoping it is not as serious as it looks."

Series 16 of the acclaimed drama was due to finish an 11-day stretch of filming at Richmond Park today.

But the film crew’s trailers, which have been stationed outside Pembrooke Lodge, will most likely be back in the park for subsequent episodes, according to the show's website.

While the first new episode is being filmed now, it will not air until next year when the new series begins.
