MP demands answers over Battersea shootings

Battersea MP Jane Ellison has demanded answers over the shootings
Battersea MP Jane Ellison has written to the Met Commissioner raising concerns in the wake of a shooting last month.
On March 29 a 20-year-old man was repeatedly shot in the chest in York Gardens, Battersea, just a few hundred metres from where Fabian Ricketts was gunned down six years ago – a murder which has still not been solved.
Ms Ellison has asked Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe for an urgent update on the police's investigation of recent gun crimes in Battersea and about the London-wide strategy for tackling gang crime.
She said: "The York Gardens shooting took place in broad daylight, at a time when young kids and their parents were making their way home. It’s a huge relief that none of them were caught by stray bullets.
"There have been a number of shootings in the area recently, which have left local residents very shaken.
"Although investigations are underway, I wanted to raise my constituents’ concerns about gun crime directly with the commissioner.
"People in Battersea need to know what is happening to tackle this appalling spate of crimes."
Anyone with any information on the shooting can contact Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
