Three mad friends are daring Croydon to be brave and try their new range of hot chilli sauces.

Mad-Ass Chilli sauce was started by business partners David Etheridge, Anthony Walker and his son Matthew.

The estranged musicians who had previously worked together at music store RockBottom, got back in touch.

Mr Etheridge said: "We lost touch years ago but last summer I saw him on Facebook and discovered he had moved back to Croydon. We started to meet up going to jam sessions together.

"One day Tony bought a jar of chilli sauce he and Matthew had made, it tasted really good. I had some recipes for chilli sauce so we worked on others together and everyone loved them.

"We started making a small amount to get people interested, before eventually deciding we should do this as a business."

Mr Walker added: "My son and I use to go and buy all the ingredients but often ended up having a lot left over and throwing it away.

"We like to make the sauces with different types of chillies because each chilli heats a different part of the mouth."

The team have produced a range of 18 sauces with each differing in heat and taste.

The company described as "Croydon through and through," only uses ingredients sourced within a 100 mile radius of the M25.

Mad-Ass chilli sauce are in Surrey Street market every Thursday, Friday and Saturday and prices start from £1.75.
