Woman rescued by firefighters from Battersea flat
A woman in her 20s was rescued from a burning flat by firefighters last night and sent to hospital.
Five people were also led to safety out of the block of flats in Battersea Church Road, Battersea, after the fire broke out on the fourth floor.
About 20 firefighters were called to the blaze just before 7.30pm yesterday.
It was put out by 8.30pm, with people living in the block of flats having to be evacuated.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "It was quite a serious fire.
"The building was evacuated, there was one rescue and five people were led to safety through smoke.
"A quarter of the fourth floor was alight."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
