Putney street party to celebrate Olympic road race
The Olympic cycling road race will pass through Putney twice next month and spectators are being invited to a street party to celebrate.
On the opening weekend of the Olympic Games the world's top cyclists, including Mark Cavendish and Nicole Cooke, will start at The Mall before heading south and eventually hurtling along Putney High Street.
The gold medal hopefuls will also be passing through Putney on the way back to the finish line, making it the perfect place to cheer them on.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy The Lacy Road Street Party which is being staged by The Exchange Shopping Centre in Putney.
On July 28 a marquee will be erected on Lacy Road complete with a flat screen television to cover the race.
There will be a host of activities such as music and entertainment with a large range of exciting cuisine to try plus a fashion show each morning in the shopping centre.
The event is being sponsored by Putney-based businesses Workman LLP, Savills, Allan Fuller and Gidden Place
