Documentary maker and former pupil of Allfarthing School, St Ann’s Crescent, Wandsworth, returned to open their summer fair.

Louis Theroux was delighted to accept the invitation to open the fair last month and brought his two children along to enjoy what the school had to offer.

In his opening speech Mr Theroux got nostalgic when recalling his school days, and commented on how much he enjoyed his time there. He also said he was pleased that the school had retained the friendly and inclusive atmosphere he remembered.

Mr Theroux posed for photos with visitors and staff, while the tables were turned when two year four boys conducted a challenging interview with him for the school news bulletin.

Mike Munley, vice chairman of the school, said: "The Allfarthing Summer fair is one of the highlights of the school year. It is always crowded, and this year’s theme was the Best of British. The school and ground were bedecked with Union Jacks.

"The proceeds are still being counted but PTA organisers are confident the school will benefit from a significant sum raised on the day."
