Thousands of J.P. Morgan staff and other corporate employees ran alongside British Olympic hero Steve Cram to raise money for Barnardo’s.
The record-breaking athlete, who is an Ambassador for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games, took to the tracks around Battersea Park two weeks before the Games begin.
A total of 26,000 entrants faced the rain over two nights on July 11 and 12.to join Cramm on the 5.6km course.
It was the 26th year of the largest corporate road racing series in the world, in support of One Step Beyond for Barnardo’s.
Cram said "It’s great to see that in this Olympic year, participants in the 2012 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge are going One Step Beyond for Barnardo’s and giving a lasting legacy to children in crisis. You will be making a difference to vulnerable and at risk children."
In 2011 the event raised £100,000 for the charity. A similar target was set for this year.
Barnardo’s chief executive Anne Marie Carrie said "Barnardo’s are absolutely delighted to have been selected for the second year running. The funds raised last year have been invaluable and gave over 2,000 children and young people in London and South East the tools they need to really turn their lives around."
