Staff on corporate training days are helping to transform Clapham Common.

Employees of accountancy firm KPMG enjoyed creating beetle hotels at the foot of a felled tree, on an away day this week.

The Hornbeam tree had died earlier in the year and was unsafe to leave standing.

Despite constant rain and lots of mud, the group of 20 staff created stands of woods which will rot down in time, to create the perfect habitat for insects such as the Stag Beetle.

Working under the guidance of Melanie Oxley, chairwoman of the Friends of Clapham Common, some employees event turned the task into a sculpture competition.

KPMG are one of a number of companies to come and work on Clapham Common.

Earlier this year over 100 Lloyds and Studio Canal staff members helped in the park.
